Batman: Detective Comics #800
ALONE AT NIGHT It's been several weeks since the gang war ceased, and Gotham has enjoyed a relative peace. However, Batman stumbles upon the body of a young man in the streets, a victim of a drug overdose. The drug trade has resurfaced in Gotham, prompting Batman to seek out those responsible. He encounters a dealer in a shadowy alley, peddling more narcotics. Batman confronts the dealer, demanding answers. Amidst the confrontation, an attempted buyer attacks Batman, only to be swiftly incapacitated. Learning the source of the dealer's supply, Batman heads there in the Batmobile, but the GCPD, under orders to apprehend him on sight, spots him. A chase ensues, reminiscent of Batman's early days. Evading capture, he drives into a tunnel leading to a subway station, using the tracks to elude the police just as a train approaches. Shortly after, Batman reaches the drug distribution hub, noticing the police converging on the location. Inside, he observes three men conversing on an upper floor and a group of girls seated motionlessly before them. Bursting through the window, Batman subdues two thugs before confronting their apparent leader. Expecting the Lucky Hand Triad or the Escabedo Cartel, he's surprised to find the Yakuza at the helm. Batman seizes the leader, seeking information, but the man commits suicide with a cyanide pill. With the police possibly storming in at any moment, Batman turns to the girls, all donning hats. He removes a hat from one, and she instantly regains consciousness.
