Spider-Man/Human Torch #1
Spider-Man/Human Torch #1
In "Picture Perfect," Johnny enlists Peter to photograph him rather than Spider-Man to enhance his reputation. While Peter is preoccupied with bank robbers, his spider-sense alerts him to Paste Pot Pete's ambush on Johnny. Peter, as Spider-Man, laughs at the villain's name, prompting Pete to retreat and consider a name change. After Johnny deals with the robbers, he decides to confront Dr. Doom at the Latverian embassy for a sensational front-page shot. Doom encases Johnny in ice, and Spider-Man quickly devises a rescue plan. He feigns acceptance of Doom's earlier partnership offer, and while kneeling for a photo, asks Doom to dispose of the Torch. Doom consents, allowing Spider-Man to escape with Johnny, encased in ice, as Doom shouts curses. Spider-Man releases Johnny, but his hair breaks off. Peter captures this moment, finding it amusing enough for publication. He submits the photos to the Daily Bugle, and J. Jonah Jameson, seemingly pleased with an embarrassing shot, rewards Peter with a bonus. However, Peter later discovers that Jameson was actually delighted with a photo showing Spider-Man kneeling before Dr. Doom, under the headline "Spider-Man and Dr. Doom in Cahoots." Meanwhile, Johnny has Reed reattach his hair and rethinks using Peter as his personal photographer.
